SHAGGY LAYERS: The sex appealof this midlength style makes it hot to trot in 2009. "Women want sexy and easy hair this season," says celebrity hairdreser Oscar Blandi of the long layered look that first made an appearance at Doo Ri's spring 2009 show. "This looks as if you've just come out of the bedroom-it wil drive men crazy." The simple style doesn't need much maintenance, which is important for women who aren't ableto splurge on monthly trims in this economy. "The hair should only go to the collarbone- no further," says Oscar, who has trimmed the tresses of Salma Hayek, Kelly Ripa and Katie Holmes.
A good blowout is the key to this cut. "It has to be very straight," Oscar says. Applying a serum helps. "Then blow it forward so it falls over the eye. Spray hair everywhere and then brush it for the tousled effect," Oscar adds.
STYLES- LOOSE FRENCH TWIST: Stylist to the stars Oscar Blandi sees this bohemian chignon as part of a move toward undone 'dos. This year, he reports, women want looks that can be executed at home rather than in the stylist's chair. "This is the 21st-century interpretation of the French twist," he says of the look created by Orlando Pita for Vera Wang. "The beauty of the stule is that it can be dressed up or dressed down, depending on the occasion, which gives women more options. And it's the perfect look for a first date."
